GET INVOLVED
All life on earth is dependent on life in the sea. At earthOCEAN we make documentaries that connect our lives on land to problems in the ocean. However, films alone cannot make the changes we need for a healthy ocean planet, so we also find ways to connect people to our oceans and empower them to make their own changes.

There are so many environmental issues in the media today it can all seem too much, too negative and too hopeless. It is no wonder so many of us choose to turn off. Unfortunately, burying our heads in the sand is no longer an option. Scientists predict that by 2050, Earth will be hotter, dryer, more polluted and packed with 9 billion people fighting for access to scarce resources. There is no one else to turn to and no one else to fix the problem. Whether we like it or not, it is up to us and we have to start now.

There are positive and even enjoyable things we can do to get involved and make a difference to our health at home, and the future of our ocean planet. Here are some things you can do on land, to protect our oceans.

KNOWLEDGE – Read and learn, a great place to start.
Not every action taken for the environment has to involve getting wet, climbing trees, becoming vegan or handcuffing yourself to a nuclear facility. In fact, you can begin without even getting of the couch. Reading is a great place to start and there are numerous eloquent and inspiring books to choose from.

ACTIONS – Making a positive change
Unfortunately, we can’t just write, read and talk about it, or think on or two small gestures like reusable shopping bags, switching to energy efficient light bulbs is enough to save our ocean planet. It is certainly important, but we need to do more than make small changes in our lifestyle, we need a revolution. We need to act to make things better for the planet and ourselves by doing something that invites personal risk.
